Microsoft Recall AI will log everything you do on Windows

To be comfortable using this requires trust in the companies ability to make iron clad security tight software.

MS doesn't have a good track record of software, and timely security patches.

With the amount of data MS Recall A.I. needs to work really well, as in everything on our PCs, security is a real concern.

They will need a fair bit of telemetry to evaluate how well or how badly, Recall A.I. the program is working. That's a given.

My unease is caused by unintentional, personal data that gets included due to bugs.

Saying it stays on our computer doesn't really inspire much confidence. -
- That's because a lot of telemetry is collected as we all know. Will there be a solid ring fence around our private data on our PCs, fully seperating it from regular old telemetry?

Folks here are tech savvy, that's for sure. But how comfortable are you with this?
Especially data collected unintentionally?

With Recall A.I. running at the OS level. Security becomes even more first and foremost. It may all work great? I hope so. But I can't say I am comfortable with all this and potential secuity nightmares.

I also admit I don't know enough about it to make a fully informed evaluation. I'll be watching this thread.

Edited for readabiliy and stupid mistakes in original.

Just because there is an off button, doesn't mean it works.
Absolutely. Unless it's properly walled off from all other telemetry etc, I would rather be sceptical when it comes to MS.

I don't mean them doing it deliberately, but wouldn't be surprised if at some point in the future there is a patch which says something like:

KBXXXXXXX To fix rare cases of xxx specific data from A.I. recall erroneosly included in XX telemetry.

It's most probably forced upon Microsoft, by some shareholder, to gain extra profits from selling user data, this is a gold mine lately... Rest assured, if any of the Linux distros gained in popularity, they would be doing the same thing!
