AMD leaps into Copilot+ PCs and outlines infrastructure GPU roadmap
Why it matters: AMD is in the unique position of being the primary competitor to Nvidia on GPUs – for both PCs and AI acceleration – and to Intel for CPUs – both for servers and PCs – so their efforts are getting more attention than they ever have. And with that, the official opening keynote for this year's Computex was delivered by AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su.
AMD unveils Ryzen 9000 CPUs, debuts new Zen 5 architecture
Highly anticipated: AMD has announced new Ryzen 9000 desktop CPUs based on the Zen 5 architecture, alongside new motherboard chipsets to support them. Additional details about the AM5 socket and new mobile chips with a heavy dose of AI were also revealed. We were briefed ahead of the Computex keynote, and are now over in Taipei, covering the floor with more coverage to come.
AMD Ryzen 9000 desktop CPU lineup leaked ahead of Computex launch
Something to look forward to: AMD is reportedly planning an initial launch of four Zen 5 CPUs ranging from 6 to 16 cores. The Ryzen 9 9950X flagship will be a 16-core / 32-thread CPU, followed by the 12-core / 24-thread Ryzen 9 9900X, the 8-core / 16-thread Ryzen 7 9700X, and the 6-core / 12-thread Ryzen 5 9600. The TDPs range from 65W for the 9600 to 170W for the 9950X.
AMD might have renamed its upcoming Ryzen AI mobile chips (again) to one-up Intel's numbering scheme
6 Cores vs. 16 Cores: How Well Have Ryzen 5 CPUs Aged?
AMD's Ryzen 5 5600 was always competitively priced and presented excellent value for gamers. However, it's a good time to pose the question: how well has it aged, and should you have bought an 8-core or even 16-core CPU instead?
Are 6 Core CPUs Enough for PC Gaming?
There are plenty of fast 6-core gaming CPUs that outperform relatively new 8, 10, 12, and even 16-core chips. In this article we'll show you some interesting comparisons using different GPUs and gaming settings.

"CPUs Don't Matter For 4K Gaming"... Wrong!
Something we hear a lot is that CPU performance doesn't matter for 4K gaming. Without proper context, CPU benchmark data can be misinterpreted. Let us explain to you what's what with some hard data.
Ryzen 7 5800X3D vs. Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Ryzen 9 7900X3D and 7950X3D
As we've known for some time, the 5800X3D remains a strong gaming CPU that's roughly equivalent to the new Ryzen 7 7700X. But still, here's a broader comparison for new builders and upgraders.
New Affordable AMD B650 Motherboard Roundup
Motherboard makers release revised models of existing boards all the time. But what is unusual here is that all these new additions are entry-level, and released rather quietly. Let's find out why.
AMD next-gen APUs reportedly sacrifice a larger cache for AI chips
Why it matters: As chipmakers embark on a widespread transition to locally processed generative AI, certain users are still questioning the need of this technology. NPUs have emerged as a new buzzword as hardware vendors aim to introduce the concept of the "AI PC," yet their arrival prompts speculation about whether the valuable die space they occupy could have been allocated to more beneficial purposes.
Is Your Older Ryzen CPU Fast Enough for the RTX 4080?
Today's mission is to work out how suitable the Ryzen 5600 is to use with a modern high-end GPU, such as the RTX 4080. Will the upgrade to a more powerful GPU require an entire platform upgrade?

AMD to introduce AI-based upscaling, potentially matching DLSS
Something to look forward to: AMD's FSR image upscaling technology has avoided using AI until now, which has been a double-edged sword in its competition against Nvidia's DLSS and Intel's XeSS. A recent interview with AMD's CTO indicates that the company plans to pivot sharply toward AI in 2024, with gaming upscaling as one area of focus.
CPU Cache vs. Cores: AMD Ryzen Edition
In this article, we'll take a look at how L3 cache capacity affects gaming performance. More specifically, we'll be examining AMD's Zen 3-based Ryzen processors in a "for science" type of feature.
AMD X3D CPU Versus: 5800X3D vs 5700X3D vs 5600X3D
We compare the three X3D chips available on the AM4 platform: the Ryzen 5 5600X3D, Ryzen 7 5700X3D, and Ryzen 7 5800X3D to see which model offers the best value to PC gamers.
AMD Zen 6 CPUs might integrate RDNA 5 for improved iGPU performance
Rumor mill: Although AMD has been integrating graphics into recent generations of its mainstream desktop CPUs, that implementation has been somewhat of an afterthought, with APUs receiving the company's best iGPUs. However, a reliable source suggests that this practice might change with Zen 6.
AMD Ryzen 7 5700 Review: A Scammy CPU?
In testing the Ryzen 7 5700, we feel we've stumbled upon a product that is borderline scammy, or is at best anti-consumer. But maybe we're overreacting, so let's take a look and see what you think.
